My First Podcast

SEO August 13th, 2006

Ever so cool. PRWeb has added podcasting to their product line. I recently did one for Frames Direct (the owners were busy) and it sounds great. Take a listen at Online Eyewear Superstore Announces Austin Area Office . You can see the entire press release here.

I’ve been working as a contract consultant to Frames Direct remotely from California for the past 1 1/2 years. I have since relocated to Austin and will soon join them as a full-time employee. Another press release announcing that will be sent out soon.

I’m Back from Search Engine Strategies 2006

SEO August 11th, 2006

I guess you could consider me a virgin (HAHA!) ‘cuz this is my first Search Engine Strategies conference. Anyway, I left for San Jose, CA last Sunday to join several thousand other techno-web-marketing-geek types.

Though I’ve been to other web marketing events, this was definitely the biggest and  the most comprehensive. And, by all accounts, the wildest. Several days of back to back workshops and seminars followed in the evenings by parties and even a huge Goggle Dance at the Googleplex.

Good thing I wasn’t driving. These geeks can PARTY!

Once I’ve staggered back to my PC, maybe I can post a couple of photos. In the meantime, check out a few from the Google Dance at Lee Odden’s Online Marketing Blog.

Beware of Geeks.com Bearing Deals

Uncategorized August 11th, 2006

Just a follow-up. A Geeks.com sales manager called and left a voicemail for me. He didn’t sound too happy about my blog post announcing what I consider a ripoff by Geeks.com. He said he’d call back later in the day to discuss it. He never did. That was several weeks ago.

So, at this point, I stand by my blog post. Geeks.com will rip you off.

Sci Fi Channel gets Star Trek: Enterprise

SEO August 3rd, 2006

Well, this has nothing to do with search engine optimization or marketing, but as with any true computer geek-type person, I’m a science fiction fan. As such, I subscribe to the Sci Fi Wire service from the Sci Fi Channel through Avantgo. I just sync my PDA and all of the latest info is downloaded onto my good old IPAQ ready for me to take with me.

Today’s announcement that the Sci Fi Channel will pick up the reruns of Star Trek: Enterprise comes as no big surprise. The Sci Fi Channel is where it belongs. In fact, that is where it should have ALWAYS been - not on the Unwatchable Program Network (UPN).  I’m not alone in expressing disappointment that the Sci Fi Channel didn’t pick up the series when UPN dumped it. After all, they picked up Stargate SG-1 after several years on Showtime and it’s still running strong. Read the rest of this entry »
