Internet Radio Under Fire

News June 26th, 2007

Net radio webcasters could be silencedInternet radio broadcasters are soon to be hit with a huge royalty increase for every song they play, to the tune of a 270% increase, according to a post on Read/WriteWeb. In protest, a lot of internet radio broadcasters staged a day of silence on Tuesday. Listeners tuned into silence.

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t listen to Internet radio a whole lot, but I do tune in from time to time for some background music and I’ve been known to surf the web in search of distance news stations. Although I’m not a rabid listener of Internet radio, I feel this idiocy has to stop. Internet radio broadcasters are being unfairly treated compared to their satellite radio counterparts, who pay royalties based on a percentage of revenue rate. If this moronic rate hike goes into effect on July 15, expect a huge exodus of available stations.

Jeez, the only difference between a satellite broadcaster and a web based one is a cable.

This is stupid, stupid, stupid!

Please, go to SaveNetRadio.org, get informed and take action!

OK, rant over…for now.

PPC/SEM Specialist in Austin

Uncategorized June 12th, 2007

FramesDirect.com - Eyeglasses OnlineThe company that I do SEO for, FramesDirect.com is looking for a Pay Per Click/Shopping Site Feed Specialist to work out of their Austin office full-time. I have an updated job listing in my post Austin Area Job Opening - PPC Guru Needed. You can also go to the company blog, The Eye Zone, and read the Austin job opening there.

Let me explain a bit about the position. It is 100% PPC and shopping site feed marketing with the potential to expand into e-mail marketing in the future. There is absolutely no SEO involved other than collaborating with the SEO (me) to do paid marketing in areas where we are weak on the organic side of the aisle. The eyeglasses superstore is rapidly expanding into a lot of shopping sites, PPC advertising and e-mail marketing venues and needs someone who is experienced and can give total focus to optimizing product feeds and ads.

Bush to Cheney - Wanna Make Out? Or How to Blog Post from Flickr

Bush to Cheney - Wanna Make Out?

This has absolutely nothing to do with SEO other than the fact that I found this photo in an SEO forum. I’m really just using it to test Flickr’s utility that allows me to post a photo to my blog by using a special e-mail address provided in my Flickr account. What’s really cool is that you can use the subject line of your e-mail message to give your photo a title and the body to add a description.

Oh, yeah, you can also e-mail photos to your Flickr account using a different Flickr-supplied e-mail address.

But, I have to admit I almost fell on the floor with laughter when I saw this. Mr. Cheney looks sooo ready! Be sure to click on the photo to see the larger version.
